Live from The Soup Kitchen, Manchester

A red plastic chandelier hangs over the bright airy room full of bench tables. Don't look for the menu - it's on an ever changing chalkboard. Kate had a baked potato with beans and cheese. I had leek and potato soup and penne pasta and vegetables (and cheese there too.) It's all unpolished and we had to send one lipstick smeared glass back but they have a great selection of books and magazines (Omni from the 70s) and the day we went Easter cakes too which Kate declared "super." Fun and super cheap too (less than £15 all in.)
