Steamers, Pismo Beach

After admiring the view from my room at the Seacrest I sauntered over to Steamers, a Pismo Beach institution for dinner. The place was packed with 'event diners' - families, parties, old friends - which I took as a good sign. I ordered a margarita and the 10th anniversary meal: a half pound of clams, and half portions of the blackened salmon and steak entrées.

I must admit that I'd imagined these would arrive as small tapas plates, not as what can only be described as a Platezilla.

I can't complain about the quality though clearly the technique is to just let the quality of the meat and fish speak (and if in doubt, add butter.) It made me happy, if not quite as happy as the folks around me, some of whom looked to be literally clinging to tables so keen were they for the night not to end.

I finished with key lime pie, like all the desserts made from scratch in house. Overall I had a neat meal of Proper American Food(tm.)
