At first I was kind of non-plussed when the waiter explained to me that dim sum is "Chinese tapas" - I mean, is tapas really better known than dim sum? Not in my world, but looking at Ping Pong's website and locations (three in the City) you get the idea most of it's clientele might not be Chinatown fans. The impression in reinforced by the decor which is over designed "none more black." Still, by and large the decor is likeable with round tables designed to be shared.
The menu is an odd beast. The average dim sum piece works out at more than £1 but it looks cheaper since the dishes are small. Service is added automatically at 12.5% which is fine since service was good - friendly and fast.

The food itself was pretty good and the selection of dim sum wide enough to suit all tastes. It's on a par with other chain versions of ethnic Asian cuisines like Wagamama and Yo! Sushi. By which I mean I'd go back. Not this week though and not if either of those was closer to hand - Ping Pong is just too "mediated" for me.
