Peanut butter and picke in the NYT

I ate a peanut butter and pickle toasted sandwich for breakfast every school day in 1989. I'd just moved to Seattle as an exchange student and discovered this weird gem from the family I was living with. I'd make the sandwich and eat it on the long walk to school. Thrilled to see it getting coverage in the New York Times. Especially intrigued by the attempt to connect it with the savoury and sour traditions of the East. Going to have one of these when I go home tonight now.
