Santorini, Greece

Apparently this is my spiritual home, Lucky's on Santorini, where Lucky will regale you with tales of his time driving a cab and serve you the best gyro you have ever had (all for prices that you can probably find in spare change in your pocket.)

Santorini was a great place to eat, although many of the restaurants I tried had basically the same dishes on the menu - with local tomato and peppers featuring as well as souvlaki of course. I can highly recommend Vanilia and Argo (be sure to book in advance), for great food and stunning views. For something more casual then off the beaten track search out Falafeland for great falafel (what else!)

The other great find of the trip was the local fava dip. Confusingly this isn't made from fava beans, but rather yellow split peas, with lashings of garlic, olive oil and onion plus a bit of thyme and lemon juice.
