Man there are a lot of Prezzo's around! Stevenage alone now has two and everywhere I go they seem to be springing up. It was inevitable that I try one eventually I guess. And you know what? It was no hardship. Nice decor - much warmer looking than the increasingly dated Pizza Express style.
The food left me with no complaints either and although there are lots of standards on the menu there are some nice diversions (try the garlic bread with caramelised onion they have as a starter). Gamberoni, roasted butterfly king prawns on ciabatta toast, were juicy, well cooked and good value at 4.95. A pizza Vesuvio was lip-ticklingly spicy and frankly huge at 7.95.
Risotto ai Funghi did nothing to shame the kitchen either, though the portion was more modest, at 8.50.
I'd happily choose Prezzo for a slightly upscale family outing over similarly priced chains.
